  • The litany against fear

In the Dune novel, the Bene Gesserit used the following chanted words to reduce their fear:

    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
    Only I will remain.

  • Random fact about me

I decided to write a random fact about myself every day. And it starts with this: I used to collect the drug info pamphlets when I was in middle school.

Although I did not understand much of the information they had, I liked reading them. The way drugs could heal people fascinated me. For a while I wanted to be a pharmacist too.

It is much easier to get your hands on pharmaceuticals  (wow, spelled correctly the first time) in Turkey. So, it was weird for me to not be able to go to the pharmacist and explain my symptoms and get a drug right there. But of course, I can see how prescription drugs can be abused that way and I am not saying we should have free access to drugs. It was just different.

  • Random Updates

I finally saw The Dark Knight at Imax last night, I liked it. I did not know Terminator was in the movie though.

Gunes and I are adopting a kitten. We don't know if it is male or female yet and we have to wait two more weeks to get it.

I signed up for driving lessons. I am starting this weekend and will hopefully get my license by the end of October.

Gonna go to Buenos Aires for Christmas. Got our air tix, now we need to really plan our trip.

  • Can a person love more than one person at the same time? Why or why not?

As the great poet Enrique Iglesias once said, "I'm not in love, it's just a phase that I'm goin' through." I wanna ask "what is love?". Is it a mindset? Do you convince yourself that you are in love? Do you stop being in love? If you can love n person where n=1, why can't n be 2, 3 or more ?

Personally, I am waiting for science to find the answers to these important questions that reduce the productivity of our corporations by an estimated 32.9% every spring.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
