What kind of accent is that?
So I went to DC two weeks ago. I loved the subway system. The cars had carpet and nice seats! While we were waiting for the next train, I took a picture of the subway map since I did not have a subway map and I thought it would be useful. But that proved to be a mistake.
Within a minute some security guy popped up and asked me why I took the picture. I told him I took it because I wanted to use it as a reference. Then he asked me “what kind of camera is that?”. I told him it was an ordinary digital camera. He still did not seem satisfied. His next question was “what kind of accent is that?”. Being a nice person, I resisted the urge to say “it is your mom’s accent”. Luckily he left me alone with the taste of harassment in my mouth.
I was more careful with the photos for the rest of the trip, which made me take less photos.

Sounds like a jackass trying to make conversation. A lethal combination.
this anti-terrorism stuff is getting a bit out of control………every American with a camera or sense of adventure or an explorer type personality is being turned in to a suspect…….looks like we have already lost…..I am glad you liked DC, I have been many times, I think it is a dump…carpeted subway and all…..sorry, juts my opinion….

i suppose if he was trying to make conversation it would have been a bit better. if he was asking to see if you were from a “dangerous” country he deserved a verbal lashing.
@askdante - I liked the architecture too. Modern and classic buildings together…
what damage could you do with a photo of a train (or map reference). I assume you could buy a map, so its not like you’re getting classified information.
I heard similar about taking photos of police vehicles, but that is more understandable.
i got harassed while taking pictures of the canada/states border last
summer. apparently, you are not allowed to photograph canada from u.s.
property.
@porcupinesol - LAst week, a friend told me she was harassed by the poice for photogrphing a classic car. The police accused her of photographing New Jersey transit switching equipment……..it is most def out of control…….

LOL, yes folks in DC are a trip… after awhile you just take em in stride….
