  • Waiting for iPhone

My cell phone sucks so bad, I can’t stand it anymore. Its antenna is broken and falls off once in a while. It fell off again this weekend in front of Macy’s! It was not fun trying to find it on the sidewalk with lots of people walking by. And the place it fell off last week was a dark bar. Luckily, the bar was not crowded as much. I was going to wait until my contract ends with t-mobile in November to get a new cell phone because I brought this on myself by dropping my cellphone into the toilet. But I decided I suffered enough and the opportunity cost of waiting should factor into my decision

Steve Jobs is supposed to announce the 3G iPhone today at Apple’s developer conference in San Francisco. (I always wondered what they talk about in those conferences but never once watched a video of it). It is going to have geotagging, which is great because I love creating Google maps with my favorite restaurants, places to go, etc. Plus, I will not have to carry a digital camera, a music player and a cell phone. It will be so much more compact. I am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to people’s expectations including mine.

  • A term I do not think I have had of geotagging.

It will be very usefully to have one of these when we got to New York in August,   since we stopping there one night I think and after the tour of America and Canada,  4 days in New York :)

I do not know much about mobile phones,  but good luck getting the new phone.

  • Sorry about your cell phone troubles.

Ethan has been waiting for this day forever. He can’t wait to get the new iphone. Do you think only at&t will offer this new iphone? I heard you can hack the iphone w/Tmobile.;)

  • I hate my cell phone too. Props.

  • One should always be careful about the the tradeoffs of consolidating phone + camera + music player. You will only have 8GB or 16GB of capacity to share across all apps for the entire device, and the camera snaps at a paltry 2 megapixels.

The value of the consolidation depends on your mileage. For me, this would never replace my existing music player (which is bursting at the seams at 80GB), but since I don’t typically carry around a camera (and my phone doesn’t have one), that would be useful for quick snapshots on the go.

  • @eugenia - Looks like it is still exclusive to AT&T. Now that I have seen it, I can’t wait either!

@alexcdb - Those are very good points. I like to keep a small set of songs I like on my music player. I think right now I have 4GB of songs in there. And a few pictures and videos. So, knowing my usage patterns, I think the 16GB one is going to be enough for me. As for the camera, I understand cell phone cameras are not as good as stand alone cameras. So, I expect it to be decent and good enough for email and web sharing.

  • Xanga! have you thought about creating an application for Apple’s
iPhone that would allow users to post a Xanga blog on the go while
being able to post pictures right from your iPhone? I thought it would
be a great idea that all members would love because it is very hard to
try and add a post on Xanga without a computer. Thank you!

  • time for new.    my oldest fried his by jumping in pool with it in his pocket.

  • My cellphone just shuts itself off at random and won’t turn back on unless I threaten it with physical violence.

  • We’re looking for a new phone and a new plan for betterhalf.  Let me know if the iphone worked for you – and att’s cell plans/service.
